I would want to congratulate the people I have fired so far!
You know why?
Story time:
I was once fired from my job, which I really needed at that moment. The person who fired me, became the villain of my life for a solid 5 years.
Actually, in almost all the jobs I had, I hated all my managers. Judging “Is this how you run a company?”
I used to think they were strict and had bad managing skills.
Little did I know – I was wrong!
So wrong.
Now I’m running my own agency with 60+ clients and a team of 25+. Here’s what I’ve learned:
1. Tough decisions come with the territory. Sometimes you’ve got to be the “bad guy” to keep things moving forward.
2. What looks like “bad management” is often just doing what needs to be done. It’s not always pretty, but it’s necessary.
3. Running a company isn’t about being liked – it’s about growth and results.
Sometimes letting someone go is the best thing you can do for them.
Why? Because that’s exactly what happened to me. Getting fired was my wake-up call. It pushed me to grow, to do better.
Now, when I have to let someone go, it’s never easy. But I only do it when I see:
No effort
No progress
No motivation
And you know what? Often, it’s the push they need to find where they truly shine.
To my old managers: I get it now. I really do.
To anyone feeling stuck or bitter at work – there might be more to the story than you realise. Sometimes, what feels like a setback is actually a setup for something better.
And to my team – know that every decision, even the tough ones, comes from wanting all of us to succeed.
